"Modern Code?" You mean hand written assembler benchmark specials? Of all the hundreds of millions of lines of code written for the X86 platform, the P4 is appropriate for running something under 1%. For 99%+ of all X86 software, PIII or Athlon is a far better choice.

Aye, there's the rub - "modern code".

I am hearing rumors that the C++ compiler in the upcoming Visual Studio 7.0 is going to support Pentium IIIs. :(
