rhodium
(Rh), metallic element, discovered in 1804 by William WOLLASTON. A silver-white, lustrous, brilliant, tarnish-resistant, and chemically resistant metal, rhodium is used to plate jewelry and searchlight reflectors. Its major use is in platinum and iridium alloys, to which it gives improved strength and the ability to withstand higher temperatures.
