I knew one of the guys who invented the electric bug zapper. He built a custom job that he hooked into the line that fed his sub division. He used to light cigarettes in the zappers. Had to moisten the tip to trip the zap.

I read several articles about idiots trying to steal copper power line to sell the copper. They were about the guys who tried it with live wires.
