I thought the market was in a replay of Oct 1998 and I still think so. I am not sure but I certainly am not "scared" of the market at the moment. I think the upcoming consumer confidence index will be a key. If that index levels off or picks up, it is almost certain (>85% chance) that recession wont come. I agree. One area that will work against the index is the recent layoffs on the minds of some due to the sheer numbers. AOL/Time Warner and some heavy industry.
