Re: $200,000 worth of White House equipment that Clinton staffers allegedly damaged before they turned over the keys to the Repubs:

Let's get real. I've been following this story on the wire services. Point No. 1: George Sr.'s crew did the same thing to Clinton's staffers eight years ago. Point No. 2: So far, about the only things reported missing are W keys on keyboards, a most heinous offense. The sticky keyboards have probably been that way for years. Spill a Coke on one and it never works the same again.

So if we max out all this damage ... the missing W keys, the sticky keyboards, the switched telephone tags, the broken glass desk tops, it'll probably come to about $575 in damage. (What does a new keyboard cost these days? $30?) The other $199,425 is probably for pain and suffering for when the church-going GOP suits walked into the Xerox room and saw a lewd Monica Lewinsky cartoon.

If anyone really believes that these pranks are going to cost taxpayers $200,000, I've got a bridge at Chappaquiddick that I'll sell you.

For the record, here's what GWB said of the "$200,000" in damage, as reported by AP:

'There might have been a prank or two, maybe somebody put a cartoon on the wall, but that's OK,'' Bush said Friday. ''It's time now to move forward.''
