WA State does not have state income tax either. Yet, I've heard we are the sixth highest tax state in country because of local taxes. Peope here support parks, green space, the zoo! In last election the majority realized that teachers were poorly paid, class rooms were packed with too many children and many schools are "falling down to the ground." So, voters have proposed to spend more on education and parks as well. We don't have kids but I will support two education proposals that will improve the public schools in an election in February. You'd need a great deal of money in Texas to pay for air conditioning. I heard that last summer the temperatures were often over 100 degrees.
