ETrade's intra-day buying power numbers are often off the mark. One day they even had a notice saying they were reading low. My account showed a margin call for a small amount when I have never pushed my margin anywhere close to a call situation.

ETrade is not reliable for frequent trading, especially for a daytrader. I wouldn't use it if that is how I made my living.

Yes, I have seen that happen, but never could get
explaination. Also, the buying power is sometimes
so ridiculously high. I have had occasstions where
I go on buying spree (within limits) and next day
they give cash call! Buying power and margin int
just does not make sense. I have had situations when
they corrected margin interest and plat investor
credit couple of times in a month. Its so easy to
cheat if they wanted. Who really calculates the
margin interest or platinum trader discounts?
