Mani,

I may take a vote on what people want to do with the thread.

My vote is to leave it the way it is (and you should continue to be the moderator, {if it's ok with you}).

I was one of the doubters at the beginning, but now I think the thread works very well.

Joe

Re:I may take a vote on what people want to do with the thread

Mani,

Keep the thread just the way it is. If anyone reads the un-moderated thread it becomes quite obvious that starting this thread was the way to go.

You do a great job as moderator under what at best can be described as difficult circumstances.

ajb

PS I do wish Ted would join this thread as a regular poster. Come on Ted take a walk on the mild side.

Mani,
I am casting the first vote for suspending Richard Surkla from this group. He is insufferable at RMBS group and he doesn't add anything to this group. He doesn't add anything at RMBS either but that's their problem.

Mani, I think you've done a wonderful job letting this thread run. You have show good judgment in my point of view. I think you could warn people via PM that they are getting off topic and to try to keep things more pertinent, but I prefer that you remain the moderator.

Thankyou for all you efforts.

Milo

Mani, Re: I may take a vote on what people want to do with the thread.

I think the thread is fine the way it is now, and I also think that you did a good job so far. It's almost impossible to moderate a thread in a way everyone agrees with. Either you are accused of doing nothing or being a despot who bans everyone. I think you should just proceed like before. IMO this thread is one of the best on SI and much better than the old thread with all those flame wars and OT stuff.

The fact that this thread is still one of the most vibrant on SI, and the older AMD thread has (for all practical purposes) died out, should tell all of us a lot- that this "model" is working.

I for one, think that you have done an excellent job being moderator (being more or less hands off- with the occasional warning and just TWO bannings).

Just look at what the old AMD thread had become (for that matter just look at what the current INTC thread is).

Just a bunch of useless political, social etc. posts that have nothing to do with the topic at hand, but merely the fact that some people have nothing better to do with their lives but discuss personal opinion re politics, society etc. with absolute strangers on a public message board.

Let things be as they are is my vote.

Thanks

TG
