Seems like it would be the same if only used for voice, unless there are some significant additional circuits required for GPRS and draw power while on standby.

How does a DSP perform a N tap FIR, N being oh, 150 or so? Software or does the DSP have some hardware for this purpose? Software somewhat slow, etc. TI Ap Note SPRA645 uses a software "Block Fir Circular Buffer" for the C6000, but it seems to have very few taps.
