I'm not sure I completely understand the changes you were making but bringing back the image will have replicated drivers and settings exactly but will not do anything about replacing incorrect bios entries. You'll have to go into the cmos setup routines and tinker again.

I often grab one of those 'save cmos settings' utilities, save cmos to the drive, with copy of the program, and then create an image. That way you can 'recover' cmos settings too if all hell breaks loose!!
