I always smile when someone says 'a stock can't go to 10 unless there is a depression'. In 1983 I listened to IBM executives predicting 100 billion in sales before that decade was out. In 1993 IBM stock hit a split adjusted 10...

Regards,
John <ggg>

PS - They still haven't hit that 100B target... Let's hope Chambers is right about 'it will all be over in a matter of months'. Michael Dell has been saying that for the last two years. Of course that's a different business...

<< I do think that will scare some people big time. Maybe not. >>

Forget people; it will also scare the institutions and funds.

<<Maybe everyone is looking at what the price is today compared to where it was before the sell off. I know it is a big mistake to do that but people still do it. Kinda like the store that raise the price then puts up a 50% off sign. >>

Chambers making negative comments is new. This is new. The market to date has only been going on suspicion which so far CISCO has attempted, and fairly successfully so, to counteract with statements of confidence re 2001.

But now negative comments, this is very new, mainly because it's an actual sales slowdown, not a projection.
