LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Just adding to more and more bonehead moves
in the eyes of international traders

THE reason to do this is precisely because of international investors and international exchanges. Global exchanges now compete for business, and we are surely on path for seemless follow the sun trading. The US is going decimal. If you have a choice of exchange to execute your order, one with smaller spreads becase of .01 over .05 increments...where would YOU send your order? Hmmm? The TSE has no choice but to follow any innovation in the US or face extinction. Plus the fact that ECNs will be arriving in Canada very soon and no doubt offer penny increments. Traders will go where costs are less...a huge part of the cost is spread. It will hardly curb volatility, and in practice have little effect on much of anything anyway. It will only come into play in highly liquid situations...most TSE issues don't even maintain .05 spreads.

Take KCA, one people trade on this thread for example. A smal llot trader now has a 5.02/5.04 spread instead of 5/5.05. Their "Cost"has been lowered. For a larger size trader it makes little difference. Smaller increments for the retail trader...are a good thing.

Saving .03 on the spread for many people is like free commission. If someone announced free commission trades you'd all be doing cartwheels, not whining.

This penny increment crap is just one more reason to trade Nasdaq and Newyork stocks. Heck the Market depth feature is almost useless now on some stocks with me only being able to see 5 or 10 cents either way. TSE will drive away traders with this move.
