It is funny how the melting pot has been so completely turned on it's head that we don't even have any common jokes anymore, forget country, culture etc. Joe, There are many jokes that are truly funny without having to insult, demean, or threaten another group of people. Had you emigrated to this country at another time you may have been at the brunt of those other jokes that do look for some scapegoat.....preferably human. There is a very strong reason for PC behavior....it is helping us to survive "the melting pot" of the world where cultural diversity rules.....and where nothing really melts together but rather runs off into its respective corners. And if one's English is not accented nor their skin dark nor do they pray with a yamaka or to Mecca, one can still hear those jokes with their scapegoats. So don't knock it......there are strong reasons for PC behavior. I believe it to be an important step in our evolution. And as for the President of the US joking about bombing another nation....like I said earlier I think its in very bad taste, but again like I said earlier, maybe my standards are too high. I was seriously scratching my head when after escaping from a communist country, where most of the silent resistance has been sustained through jokes about communism, I come to the USA, the land of the free (and supposedly free speech), and I hear on the news that one of the New York State counties banned jokes in county offices. Maybe you were scratching your head because you did have all the information. This was just the beginning of the Politically Correct phenomenon, and the PC Storm Troopers were not yet in charge of speech, ideas and suppression of the freedom of conscience the way they are now. These days, even the shortest and funniest joke "Take my wife" can be a target of the Storm Troopers. Now that's funny....I am not sure what "take my wife" means but what makes you think that freedom of speech means you can say whatever your thinking whenever you want. If you thought your wife was turning into a fat cow, and you told her that, how pleasant do you think it would be around your house? There are things we say freely and there are other things we suppress either out of respect for someone else, or from fear of retribution. All PC behavior does is take it to higher level of awareness. In the end, we will all be better for it. ted ted
