USPS offers secure e-mail to agencies gcn.com The Postal Service last week introduced an Internet-based secure messaging service that lets government agencies secure and authenticate internal electronic correspondence. NetPost.Certified users obtain a digital certificate stored on a smart card, which lets them send electronic files securely and privately. The service generates an electronic delivery verification. USPS is considering a similar service for the private sector. Meanwhile, the service’s Board of Governors earlier this month approved funds for systems that will provide real-time mail flow information for large-volume mailers and the service’s management. The board also signed off on funds to replace existing account and employee time-keeping systems. The centralized Time and Attendance Collection System will replace five systems.
