I know when I went to The Wiz to get my cable modem, one of the first things the salesman showed me was a couple of websites showing movie clips. It's interesting that consumer applications get all the press when the biggest driver to date has been business-to-business. Business applications have changed the economics of competition and created a virtuous cycle to the point no business will be able to stay in the game without the efficiencies afforded by the Internet. Consequently billions of dollars have been spent on upgrades, creating an infrastructure capable of supporting all the gizmos consumers want. Remember the early video-on-demand trials? They failed miserably. Back then they were competing for the consumer-focused cableTV market and it was simply too expensive. How times have changed. Pat
