SGI is announcing a new addition to its Intel® processor-based, rack-mounted-optimized server family, the 1100 server. Certified to run Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 or Linux, the SGI 1100 server features a space-saving 1U (1.75-inch) footprint that fits easily into industry-standard 19-inch racks. Powered by single or dual Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or 1 GHz processors, the SGI 1100 server is a powerful yet affordable solution. SGI 1100 is designed for easy manageability, maintainability and expandability for deployment as an Internet, e-commerce, rendering or cluster computing nodes solution. One of the first installations of this server is at the University at Buffalo Center for Computational Research (see separate release dated 1/31/01), where SGI 1100 is deployed as a 152-processor Linux cluster and is one of the primary compute engines supporting 25 university departments.
SGI Internet Server for E-commerce

SGI Internet Server Environment (ISE)

Kasenna(TM) MediaBase for Linux Servers from SGI
Kasenna MediaBase is the only carrier-class broadband software platform for managing, distributing and streaming rich-media content over the Internet, intranets and virtual private networks at bit rates ranging from 28.8Kb per second to 15Mb per second to multiple client platforms.
