CICI,EDS news:

EDS and CIC to Provide Joint Electronic Signature and Wireless Offerings
Biometric Signature Verification Market Expected to Exceed $200 Million By 2004
PLANO, Texas and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan 29, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- EDS (NYSE: EDS chart, msgs) and Communication Intelligence Corporation (Nasdaq: CICI chart, msgs) (CIC) today announced a licensing agreement through which EDS will provide CIC's electronic signature software to EDS clients.

Through this agreement, CIC will provide EDS with its InkTools(R) and iSign(TM) Software Development Kits (SDKs) for Microsoft Windows, Windows CE, Linux, Java and Palm wireless environments. EDS will use the SDKs to incorporate CIC's biometrically secure signatures into numerous wireless and enterprise applications.

"We view our relationship with EDS as a significant milestone. Our SDKs will be used by EDS business units across the EDS enterprise offerings to develop a variety of different applications that require in-demand e-signature and biometrically verifiable security solutions," said Jeff Sandler, vice president of worldwide sales for CIC. "This relationship leverages the strengths of both companies, and offers EDS clients the business solutions they need to better compete in the global and digital economy."

InkTools is a high performance SDK for implementing systems using electronic ink or handwritten signatures. InkTools provides electronic ink capture and display, biometric signature verification and ink compression as well as other encryption and hashing algorithms that add value to a wide variety of document and transaction based applications. iSign is a web-based SDK that provides the functionality of InkTools in traditional and wireless application architectures.

The software targets the growing biometric handwritten electronic signatures market, which IDC estimates will reach $234 million by 2004. In addition, it expands EDS' growing portfolio of information assurance offerings.

"As a provider of Information Assurance services, we partner with leaders in the security technology industry to offer complete information assurance services solutions. We constantly pursue relationships with leaders in the security technology market to add value to our service offerings and our clients. Our relationship with CIC is a major step forward in rounding out our Information Assurance services portfolio in the wireless security area," said Shakil Kidwai, vice president, EDS Global Information Assurance Services. "As an integral part of the security solutions provided by EDS, CIC's technology allows us to offer a more price-competitive and feature-rich solution that significantly increases the value of our information assurance services solutions."

EDS demonstrated these electronic signature capabilities at the Fall COMDEX show, using handheld devices to communicate wirelessly -- and securely -- with servers that biometrically verified the user for device, network and application access.
