Human blood is not a human

So far, I'm with you. But here you change your wording:

And that the conceptus is human is not merely a religious matter. It is also scientific fact.

That the "conceptus" is human is not at issue; it's clearly not animal. That it's "a human" -- equivalent to a human being -- is precisely the issue. Science does not take a position on this issue. Religion does.

Some religions hold that there is no difference between aborting a fetus and killing a human being; abortion is murder. Other religions hold that the fetus is a potential human, not a full human being; abortion is sinful but not murder and may be justified if the mother's life is at risk.

Still other religions take the ultimate pro-life position: menstruation is murder. It's a woman's duty to have as many babies as she possibly can. Seen from this angle, abortion, birth-control and chastity are all the same; they prevent life.
