Hi Gary - I think issue re "failure" is not one of company's execution at all.

In fact, nothing to complain about there.

The issue has to do with the marginal price of a slice of stock. The case for further investment posted here seems to boil down to "With CSCO's growth rate of >50% and the stock currently at X, it's a screamin' buy for the long term."

The part I find most interesting is that it doesn't seem to matter what the value "X" is! As though 2X is guaranteed some day in the future.

Anyone who asks "why is it a screamin' buy" gets a variant on the "because internet is wonderful, revenues are growing, Chambers is God's gift to corporate management" reply... which is circular (these are the reasons for top line growth).

What is "failing" is the ability of a self-referential price definition to find and hold a level.
