InfoSpace sees 2001 loss, flat revenues

SEATTLE, Jan 29 (Reuters) - InfoSpace Inc. (NasdaqNM:INSP - news), which syndicates content to Web sites and wireless services, said on Monday that it expected to post a pro forma net loss of 14 cents for 2001.

InfoSpace's revenues for the year would be flat from 2000 revenues of $215 million, Chief Financial Officer Tammy Halstead said on a conference call following the company's fourth quarter earnings report.

While revenues from wireless services were expected to double in the year, revenues from the consumer business would fall amid the slowdown in the U.S. economy, Halstead said.

The Bellevue, Wash.-based company would report a first quarter loss of 5 cents per share on revenues of $45 million, Halstead said.

Chief Executive Naveen Jain said the company planned to make few or no acquisitions this year and that management would make an announcement in about 30 days highlighting measures it will take to boost performance.
