The Clintons will continue to exist for a good many years, but they will not be an issue for long, and already they are not the issue. They never were, really, except to those who found it expedient to pretend that they were. Very soon Bill will be just another ex-President, and Hillary will be just another first-term Senator; there will be very little to say about them.

I've never believed the proposition that the Clintons represent some new low point of corruption, lack of character, etc.; I think that notion prevails mainly among those with weak memories and those who are ideologically predisposed to dislike them. I don't expect the current administration to be an improvement, not because they are conservative or because they are Republicans, but because the political system requires and rewards this sort of behaviour.

Good honest folks - of any ideological inclination - don't win elections. Sad but true.
