But every pair of Nikes bought from cheap labor in Vietnam does not adequately reflect the cost the US is paying in losing that job in this country. To adequately reflect that, the cost of the job to the US (one workers salary) should be amortized against all the shoes that worker could have made- with that price added in to the shoes- only THEN would the shoe be at fair value for us (imo). Of course exporting/importing has never been fair. That is why the developing world was looted while finished goods were sold to the developing world at inflated prices. You could say the US is getting back what it deserves. But since I don't believe in fairness or equity- I think it would be expedient if we were more careful of our own workers.
