What kind of Blarney is this?

Morning Eric,

"You are not seriously comparing a company with 32 million in annual sales (2/3 rds from 1 customer) and income of - 16.0 Mil with net profit margin of - 50.20% to Nokia are you? If so to what possible end?"

I'm only comparing their relative performance - both are in the dumpster - as is Q - but that's not the point. Tero was inferring motive from their having their cow in the ditch - Parthus's and Tero's motives appear on a par if we apply NOK's relative performance to Tero's own equation...

"Their claim to fame pre Bluetooth has been MP3 and other audio chips".

I see no "claim to fame" to Bluetooth noted in any of your Parthus documents - seems simply one of many services they are marketing.

"You might want to compare this company to let's say IDCC. Other than market cap they do not compare very favorably... and you have never heard me promote IDCC".

Agreed - but how does this bias them against successful GPRS performance as Tero infers?

"Doesn't sound like that one ( Our 2.5G platform ) is going anywhere, does it?"

Not the point. I highly suspect they hope it will.

"..that contributor ( Tero )achieved more credibility than you, I am sorry to say..."

No need to be sorry! <g>

You may want to check is predictions against reality this morning.

Nokia delays GPRS handset launch to Q3

HELSINKI, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Mobile phone giant Nokia said on Tuesday it would push
back the launch of higher-speed GPRS mobile phones to the third quarter of this year,
heightening industry worries about when the GPRS market will take off.

Finnish Nokia, the world's largest and most profitable mobile phone maker, said volumes of GPRS (general packet radio services) phones would rise into the millions in the fourth quarter of this year.

Nokia had previously expected to launch GPRS phones in the first half of 2001. Currently only Motorola (NYSE:MOT - news) of the United States -- the world's second largest mobile phone maker -- has a GPRS phone on the market.

GPRS, a stepping stone to third-generation mobile phone networks, supports higher data transmission rates and will allow for 'always-on' Internet connections.

Nokia said in its full-year 2000 earnings report on Tuesday that it expected to start shipping multi-media 3G mobile phones in the third quarter of 2002.

Nokia reported fourth-quarter pre-tax profit up 39 percent to 1.77 billion euros, but disappointed investors with a cautious Q1 outlook, saying earnings per share would stay flat on the year-ago level and sales would rise 25-30 percent.

I wonder what they'll say in Q3? <g>

Perhaps they need an extra 2 quarters to get the wrappers just right!
