In 1990, the market bottomed right before the first negative GDP reading, in other words, right at the start of the recession. It all depends on the severity of the recession, I guess. Certainly when the Fed cuts has a lot to do with it; two Fed rate cuts have marked a major bottom 95% of the time.

Liked your chart, by the way. Sure does seem to favor the bulls, doesn't it?
