JDN--Thanks for the reply. While I think the Canadian system works better than you assert (I will admit it isn't perfect, though)--and it DOES cover everyone in the country--I'll settle for an American version of universal health care. I'm no health expert, but what you describe would be far superior to what we have now, but would be "greeted" by the national health insurance companies with another fun series of "Harry and Louise" ads... I'd like Dubya better if he would propose something like this (or something similar), but I ain't holding my breath. If he surprises me, I'll more than gladly admit that I was wrong.

Anyway, thanks for the message. I find agreeing with Republicans--when we can honestly do so--much superior to always carping at each other...

Dear ecommerceman: See we agree on another thing, I would like some type of Universal Health Care (though not like the one in Canada, I have SEEN how that one works and its the PITS IMHO. What I would like is that a Medicare TYPE program (ie NO NEW BEARAURCY (SP?)be instituted wherein EVERYONE can join like a massive group health program. Those below a certain income pay less those above pay the normal premium. This would be A WIN WIN IMHO (except for the insurance companies I suppose) as even those of us that had to pay the full premium would get a discount since it would be a very large GROUP plan. I am retired, but I am only 57 and believe me getting health insurance at an affordable premium is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I have no love for these damn health insurance companies at all.
Anyhow, isnt it neat how this is working? Just like President Bush said, lets find the things we CAN AGREE ON. haha JDN
