<<Delaying GPRS phone launches could make it tougher for handset manufacturers to post high profits as they need new phones with new technologies to temp handset users to upgrade their existing phones.>>

In other words, GSM handset margins to tank soon. Nokia is in more trouble than Jorma is ready to admit at this time.

A error in the Nokia article;

>>Analysts fear it may take longer for customers to warm to high-speed mobile Internet GPRS or even faster, new generation mobile phones, which operators and cellphone makers had hoped would be big sellers in coming years.<<

I think we have already determined that people using GPRS phones will quickly warm their hands and ears.

On topic, could somebody give a rundown on how the new MSP 1000 fits into the Q chipset series, what applications it will possibly enable, what part of the wireless devise it will replace. Thanks

From the release,
>>The MSP1000 device enables integration of advanced multimedia features, including support for streaming video using PacketVideo's PVPlayer(TM) Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG-4) streaming media decoder, Java-enabled applications, games, m-commerce, navigation and e-books. The MSP1000 device facilitates implementation of these high-performance functions in a system that includes one of QCT's Mobile Station Modem (MSM(TM)) integrated circuits and the Wireless Internet Launchpad(TM) suite.<<

Nokia also pushed back the launch of its high-speed GPRS mobile phone ... to the third quarter of this year from the first half,

This brings to mind some questions, to wit:
How are the SPs who are on record as committed to GPRS going to react to this confirmation of delays?
When will the first GPRS SP announce it has abandoned GPRS in favor of a competing (spelled CDMA-1X) technology?How is this news being received in the offices of T-AWE and Cingular?
When will a brave analyst or financial reporter ask them this question?

In fact, on that last question, if someone can point me to a link to e-mail either of these companies that question, I will be happy to do so.
