GV, Hard to quantify but I would say that core inflation during that period seemed to be held in check by productivity and technological advances. Rate increases were called for but I think AG went to far. And again the special conditions surrounding the Presidential election exacerbated the situation imo. I guess you could make a case that if it were a normal election AG may have hit the mark. Regardless we now find ourselves in a situation that calls for the type of action AG is taking. 1/2 point is a requirement at this point if only to keep nasdaq healthy for a time as we crawl our way out of the recession or whatever it turns out to be.
