Dan,

Has anyone seen any events recently that would indicate that energy issues were of any importance to the county? Certainly Bush hasn't been able to pick up on anything.

My impression is that the department of energy has mainly been dealing with nuclear energy issues (including nuclear weapons research), and these issues have not had a lot of emphasis since the virtual freeze on the construction of nuclear power plants, an not much need for nuclear weapons.

I think this country should get back to building nuclear plants, rather than building natural gas, oil, coal or more dams. Nuclear a lot more environmentally friendly than the alternatives. And even if it takes expanded role of the Energy Department, it's fine with me.
