unfortunately, human nature is what it is.

our choices (the way i see it), is:

1. change human nature .... over the very long run, possible, but not likely.

2. improve education to the lower classes so they gain the tools so they can improve their lot on their own

3. force a system where some sort of subsidy is introduced so this class has an "artificial" environment that is "better" than what under a "natural course" they would provide for themselves. this has been tried and it does not seem to be working.

in my eyes # 2 is the only viable solution.

# 1, i believe that there has been a small change since there are individuals who genuinely care about others and they do make a small difference. then again... it is a very small minority.

we can go on in circles... the real problem, i still see is rooted in the increasingly growing population, WITHOUT increasing the size of the PIE.

hence.... numbers don't lie. the result will always be that under a competitive society, if there are more mouths to feed off the same (or comparatively speaking), smaller PIE... there will be those with a smaller share of the pie.
