ActiveWorlds to Build Innovative Virtual Showroom
With 3D Training For Siemens Electomedical Systems

From 3D Heart Monitors To Simulated Classrooms, Medical Professionals Can Now Perform
Clinical Training In An Online Virtual Setting.

NEWBURYPORT, Mass., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- ActiveWorlds.com (Nasdaq: AWLD - news), a leading provider of
three-dimensional technology on the Internet, today announced it will work with Siemens Electromedical Systems Group, to create
a 3D online medical equipment training facility. It is anticipated that the construction of the 3D showroom environment and training
facility will be completed by March 30, 2001.

The technology platform created by Activeworlds, which will be hosted by Siemens, will include the recreation of one of Siemen's
facility showrooms as well as a virtual hospital room. Housed in the Rooms will be a series of 3D virtual Siemens heart monitors
that will have the same functionality as the real monitors. Doctors will be able to interact online with these monitors for training
and testing purposes. Also included in the online environment will be a virtual auditorium that can accommodate 50 training
stations, each with a heart monitor for users to practice with, as well as a view of the stage platform where instructors will lead
courses over the Internet in real time. A hospital environment, with a simulated ICU unit taken from actual photographs, with a 3D
bed, patient avatar and heart monitor, will also be placed in the same building as the showroom. The Siemens' training rooms will
feature custom avatars, as well as robotic host avatars with artificial intelligence that will greet users, orient them to navigation,
take them on a hospital tour and introduce the Siemens medical product line

``Complementing our existing features and our planned growth strategy, we are very pleased to establish this relationship with
Siemens Electromedical,'' said JP McCormick, Chairman of Activeworlds.com. ``Siemens develops one of the most
technologically advanced electronic systems in health care, and this partnership will provide an exciting opportunity to produce a
simulation of one the most sophisticated electromedical technologies in the industry. Activeworlds' small 1 meg browser with its
online communication capabilities and real time 3D interactivity, makes it an ideal platform for corporate training solutions. It is one
more step forward in establishing the Activeworlds technology as a standard in online 3D commercial applications.''

About ActiveWorlds.com

ActiveWorlds.com, Inc. provides software products and on-line services that permit users to enter, move about and interact with
others in a computer- generated, three-dimensional virtual environment using the Internet. Unlike a two-dimensional environment,
which permits movement on a computer screen only along flat horizontal and vertical axis (up, down, left and right), a three-
dimensional virtual environment enables users to move in three dimensions by allowing them the added capability of moving
forward and backward. In the virtual worlds created in our three-dimensional environment, users are also able to create objects
and structures which other users can see and move in real time.
