I and my family (with a 10 month old baby girl and an 8 year old boy) happened to be in Istanbul on 13 August 1999 for one night only, when we got a 8.4. About 20,000 people perished. All of us four were unharmed.

ibexx, I have experienced so many earthquakes so far, they can hardly scare me anymore<ggg> In 94 Northridge quake when I was in LA, I didn't even sit up from my bed, told my wife no big deal and continue to sleep.
