I know you are addressing this as a general post but as for me, I have been in the markets for a long time.. So I do know a thing or two.. Run up on certain sectors, computers in early 1980s for example have always been with us.. Even in range bound markets, there are always stocks that do well and stocks that go belly up.

Sure we have instant, and readily available information on securities, whether it is news, or opinions or what have you. Other then that, nothing much has changed.. If you have any doubts about that, read "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" by Edwin Lefevre.. The book was written 70 odd years ago.. but still relevant today...
