And if you use civil wars to cull populations you can make money selling arms to both sides.

It should be noted that though most Americans support the right to abortion and to birth control, the Bush administration has issued an executive order, ie fiat, cutting foreign aid to clinics for other services, including birth control and after-care for botched abortions, where the organization offers abortion counseling.

Does the US pay for abortions in the US?

Abortion isn't simply the case of another medical procedure for government to subsidize. A sizeable minority in the country think of it as murder on a massive scale. Its an issue more similar to slavery then heart surgery in that it is an extremly controversial issue where both sides think the other is ignoreing or abuseing basic human rights. Generally the government should stay out of funding such highly controversial things.

Yes most Americans support the right to an abortion but I don't think most Americans support tax dollars going to fund abortions. Bush is by fiat reversing a policy change that Clinton imposed by similar fiat. The opposition to blocking aid to other activities is obviously important if the ban on such aid is to be meaningful. Any money saved in other areas by the fact that government is paying for them, can be used for abortion. A similar arguement can be used against aid to totalitarian opressive dictatorships even for other things besides the military, the secret police and torture devices. Any money saved on transportation or food or medical supplies can be spent on murder, imprisonment and torture.

I believe that you understood my position as stated.

Would you, E, voluntarily donate funds to help take up the slack from the Bush Administration's executive orde to cut foreign aid to said clinics? Do you think that there is a sizable population that would do so? Or do you think that all of these people that are criticizing Bush for cutting these funds will bury their heads in the sand and let famine do the job? If they do, then their conviction isn't too impressive.
