You sound bitter. Sorry to hear, if it's happened to you. A layoff is a layoff. I've seen this method used at a company (nameless) that I worked for. It's unfortunate, but it's still legit and it amounts to the same thing as a layoff, in most cases.

was that the video server group? That really, really sucked imo. And the amazing thing is the division had a bunch of star engineers in it.
