Bill - Thanks for that link. I printed out the analysis to refer to when I start looking beyond FY-01.

The problem till now has been getting a handle on a changing target. I can appreciate the problems the analysts had (the good ones) in keeping their models up to date with all the changes QCOM has been through these last two years.

The good news part of the G* debacle is that it has made it easier to forecast QCOM's number's going forward. It has simplified (at least for the moment) QCOM's business proposition.

Once work on FY-01 forecast is done, I will apply the results to forecasting the next two or three using the same approach. then can begin to compare to MochaLatte's numbers.

Cavaet - A couple of us were well into working on this last Spring when things kind of blew up for QCOM (Korean ban, China delays, etc.). Until QCOM's business prospects cleared up over these last few months, it has felt a bit futile to push on with long-term forecasts.
Although I feel we have better "visibility" into revenues and earnings now than then, who knows what else is out there. Of course, one big structural change that is coming is the spin-off of QCT. But now that 1X is a reality and 1X/EV looks close, I think we can get a handle on how the numbers might play out.
Expect to have my FY-01 quarterly eps numbers posted by tomorrow night.
