I've seen maybe like 2 hours total. I agree with your assessments...I do feel that jazz has had an impact to this day though. I mean look at bands like the Dead, or the Allman Bros...to Bela Fleck & Grisman...to Santana. Plus lots of new young bands like the Miracle Orchestra.

Mets sign Leyritz, Matt Franco

NEW YORK (AP) - While the Mets can't find more starting pitching,
they keep adding players to the competition for bench jobs. Jim
Leyritz, a former postseason hero for the Yankees, and Matt
Franco agreed Thursday to minor league contracts with the Mets.
"Both guys will be part of the group competing for bench roles
and support roles on the team," Mets general manager Steve
Phillips said. Leyritz would get a $500,000, one-year contract if
he makes the team plus the chance to earn $250,000 in performance
bonuses. Franco would get a $462,500, one-year contract and the
chance to make $37,500 in performance bonuses -- a deal identical
to his contract with the Mets last year. Leyritz, 37, hit .218
with one homer and four RBIs for the Yankees last year, then was
traded to Los Angeles on June 20 for Jose Vizcaino. Leyritz
batted .200 for the Dodgers with one homer and eight RBIs.
