My thinking on a 75 basis cut goes back to last summer when the FED cut 50 basis points. They didn't consider the energy problem as seriously as they should have. The lack of pipeline capacity for natural gas, shortage of generation for electricity and the oil prices have the same or more effect than rising interest rates. So with that as an announced reason it justifies a 75 basis point cut and removes the doubt and uncertainty...IMHO.
