Scumbragger,
RE:"I testified at Congressional hearing concerning wilderness designation of the Escalante, in 1972. I'm probably not the best person to try to force your uninformed opinion on."

Force anything on you? You have to be joking...<G>
I would like to hear your "informed" opinion on this rather than a quip. I'm certainly for environmental protection but I question Clints motives on this one...even others...
To tell you the truth I think Clinton was more concerned with his legacy than he ever was with the environment...
Wasn't there some question about coal and Indonesian cronie payola on this one?

RE:"I hope that you really don't see the world in such hopeless terms as you claim"

I'm a realist. Obviously, "save the world" hasn't worked...
Man with his greed doesn't seem to want to make the sacrifices willingly. I guess we have to just make the best of it...
In the 70s, I was gung-ho on saving the environment. Then I saw the power of money/development...and it usually wins over the environment despite any efforts of slowing it down.

I'm sure you'll say it's sad I think this way...but will think about it when you see areas you grew up in decimated..as a matter of fact you already have mentioned it...
