Dear Scumbria: 1) Your gas hog SUV must have a 30-40 gallon tank (that's the standard tank of a typical SUV) so you must be using about 300 to 400 gallons a year which says you are driving just 6 to 8K miles per year (not including the waste of the fuel used in what biweekly trips to California and 3, 4 times to Europe). My mother drives about that and uses less than 150 gallons a year. Given the typical Boulder year, you do not even need 4WD, if that is all you drive. 4WD is really needed just a few days a year. If you really need a 4WD, get one of those 4WD Ford Rangers Electrics since you claim not to drive more than 20 to 30 miles a day. They get the equivalent of 100+ MPG. Now you can claim environmentally safe transport by using green power from renewable power sources (ie hydro, wind, or solar). 2) Medicare(aid) is such a waster of money. Welfare was for the most part wasted. HUD just streamed money for public housing down the proverbial rathole. These four programs were started and protected by Democrats. I could go on, but most would get the picture. 3) Forget your posts about limiting growth in Boulder already? If it is so great living there then, you are denying others from living there. 4) Your responses during this and other discussions just proves my point. 5) I am educated and I had offices near HV power lines, a power plant is just down the highway. I am a physicist and an EE, and I know that most of the complaints are just pure bunk from NIMBYs. 6) And what if the roadless wilderness is between you and work and you had to detour around it for 100 miles? I have a friend in such a situation. 7) The last comment shows what a hypocrite you are. Still insulting others without any facts. Pete
