I have always figured that since the democrats subscribe to the philosophy that the end justifies the means, regardless of the law or due process of law, they naturally believe that the rest of us are the same. I don't think they understand that we generally are guided my matters of principle, rather than expediency. This difference is illustrated in our haste to dump Nixon and their unanimous support of Clinton in complete disregard of the facts. This is also shown by how readily, once it doesn't matter any longer that they come out and say things like "we knew about Jessee Jackson's affair all a long - it is not news" a paraphrase of Clarence Page or "we always knew the Clintons are white trash" a paraphrase of several liberal pundits.

SR:

"Does anyone feel that the dems reasoning for voting against Ashcroft is a bit hypocritical? It seems they are saying "because you feel differently about some issues than we do, you probably will not enforce the law"."

It seems that opposition to Roe v. Wade is a litmus test for the dems, who if my recollection is correct criticized
Reagan because he allegedly had a pro life litmus test. Ah, the hypocrosy of it all.
