What point I was trying to make is that C&W is outsourcing a huge chunk of their network buildout/network maintenance work to NT. This is RADICAL for a traditional Tier 1 Carrier and is a harbinger of business approach that we may see more often. IF this outsourcing trend really takes off among the major Carriers (I am confident outsourcing will be much more prevalent among the new Next-Gen networking outfits), then all I was trying to say was that NT would be in the SWEET SPOT to garner a huge chunk of this new revenue source -- simply because NT has the most wide depth and breadth of platforms, technology, applications, & professional/engineering services in virtually every single majore networking market (optical, cell, IP, ATM, Cable, Ethernet, etc.etc.etc.). Carriers are NOT going to outsource their entire network to companies like CSCO simply because CSCO has products & experience in the edge of the network. LU is completely screwed up right now and all other players with the exception of ALA simply do not have the capability of managing the entire C&W type of network end-to-end. This is why NT's acquisitions in the past few years now make lot more sense to me in light of this outsourcing opportunity......acquisitions like Shasta, Alteon, Clarify, Promatory, Antec (more JV), etc.etc has really broadened NT's ability to MANAGE their tier 1 Carrier's networking needs not only End-To-End but also from applications & functionality/utility points of view. When a carrier like C&W decides to outsource a huge chunk of their networking needs, they are going to go to a company like NT which has the technology, resource and the EXPERIENCE to build and manage ALL their various different requirements in their networks -- especially as the convergence of multi-media becomes a key factor in how the network will evolve.
