Part of the reason I joined SI in the first place was to see several points of view on stocks, and other things....Wonder if the current management will keep the archived issues? If anyone wants to check things out....this may be our last opportunity....siliconinvestor.com January 30, 2001 Herd it through the grapevine [Sorry to be so commercial, but this message needs to run for a few more days.] Futures and options. . . What started as an experiment in the fall of 1996 (roughly when Go2Net came into existence) has become a fairly popular column. Unfortunately, along the way my business interests and those of Go2Net (now InfoSpace) have diverged. For some time now it has been apparent to me that Silicon Investor would not be the long-term home of the Market Rap. I have been wrestling with what to do next, but had not planned to go into the gory details, nor stop writing the Rap for Silicon Investor, until my plans had solidified. Regrettably, because of a communication mix-up while I was away, the Silicon Investor Team last week incorrectly posted that my final column would be Jan. 31. Always one to try to make lemonade out of lemons (we contrarians get a lot of practice at that), this weekend I finally decided that I would let YOU, the readers, decide what happens next. Here is the deal. If enough readers express interest in subscribing to the Rap for $50 per year (that's roughly two dimes a day, for the mathematically challenged), then the Rap will continue, in subscription mode, as a standalone product at GrantsInvestor.com. If not, the Rap will go the way of the dinosaur on Feb. 28. Why 20 cents a day? I picked a sum that absolutely no investor would ever miss, yet in the aggregate would still cover the costs and would, in the immortal words of Carl, the greens keeper, leave me a little something, you know, for the effort. I will announce my decision in Monday's Rap. So it's game time. To cast your "vote," click here, or, if you experience technical difficulties, send an e-mail expressing your interest to fleck@grantsinvestor.com. (Please note: You will not be asked for any billing information at this time; that will happen later.) On a final note, let me say thanks for all the supportive e-mails I received in response to last week's announcement. I won't be able to respond to them all, but I want everyone to know that your support matters a great deal.
