You're right, but that is because of what I will call the "care factor"!

Who makes sure the dog has food and water? Usually this falls on the woman. Who sees to it that the dog is groomed?

I know this is the woman. Men wouldn't notice how badly the dog smelled, or if he did, wouldn't care.

You are absolutely right, GZ.....to the dog we are part of "his" pack. We have a German Shepherd and he is very large. Sometimes at night, he will "herd" up the 3 cats and run them to the back of the house as if telling them, "Hey you guys, it's time for bed. Get on back there!"!!!! He is very protective of the three of us.
