opal: The FDA approved the AbioCor in record time because of the complete and comprehensive data compiled by Abiomed....I don't think there has been a single mechanical failure in the calf tests. The intial patients who will receive the AbioCor are very sick people who face imminent death. As far as liability concerns.... if the heart has problems the shareholders will feel the markets wrath long before any lawsuits are filed.....but if it works and the AbioCor improves the quality of life in these people with end stage heart failure who knows how high this company will fly....

opal, might i suggest that you call IR at the company
and ask them your questions (or email them)? these are
legitimate concerns, but i think the board will be
best served not by having investors come here with long
lists of questions, but by investors finding answers/info
and posting them here.

regarding the company's financial resources, they still
have almost $100M cash from the secondary offering,
and no debt. I consider that information to be extremely
basic - it is available in the sec filings, and with due
respect, if you have real interest in the company, that
should be the first place to start looking for answers.

I have partial answers to others of your questions, but
it would be much more interesting to hear what the co.
tells you concerning cost of trials, etc. etc. I hope
you will accept my reply in the positive spirit I'm
writing, and that if you do make the effort to get answers
you will share them with us.

thanks!
