CMGI had more than $8 billion in cash at one point. Now they are down to $1.7 billion, and CMGI is currently trading just above cash value. In 1997, CMGI owned 80% of Lycos, but according to an article, they now own "about 1 percent of Terra Lycos' outstanding shares" - Terra Lycos is currently valued at more than 8 billion.

Somewhere along the way CMGI screwed it's shareholders, but David Wetherell made out quite by nicely selling a chunk of his CMGI holdings during the bubble. I think he really needs to cut back on his salary a little, which is more than $1 million.
