One of the things that bothers me about the euro, long term at least, perhaps you can comment. It would seem for the euro to take it's place as a reserve currency, or even long term stable platform, would be the unification of the tax strategies and legal systems of the underlying countries. This would make it similiar to the US, in that the states share a common currency, common tax structure (at the federal level) and fairly common laws (not to mention GAAP accounting processes). Have you noted any move to unify beyond sharing a common unit of exchange? I forsee mega trading blocks evolving, best case. North America, Euro and Asian blocks seem interested in improving trade by reducing intrablock transaction costs. Don't quite know where Latin America fits in this, but they do have something similar.
