"TA is not about systems code, it's about the art of interpreting charts."

Yes, that's logical. Technical analysis of stocks is the art of interpreting charts. Software that gives buy/sell signals is not about interpreting charts. Therefore, it is not TA. The syllogism makes it all clear. "Specious reasoning" is one of the definitions of "syllogism" in Webster's, but it's listed only as the third sense of the word, so I think we're OK.

Maybe if we just put a cautionary note on the thread for beginners, that they might find off-topic trading-systems code in here.

TA is not about systems code, Software that gives automated buy/sell signals is not about understanding the interpretation of a chart. So therefore it is not TA. I would point TA beginners away from this thread.</i?

I agree with only one statement in here.
it's about the art of interpreting charts.

With Respect..., Everything else in this statement has not been thought-out very well.

It's true black box mechanical systems have proven to be less then stelar performers, and beginners should be warned about waist their money and rely on their song and dance, without first understanding Technical reading of charts.

But software programs using code..., can and do make excellent trading platforms.
