I agree. If we have a Fed rally, 3000 makes technical sense. If we have a Fed collapse, then 2690. It is the common sense aspect that I struggle with.
25 pts = Economy is slow, but needs a kick.
50 pts = Economy is just about stalled, this will get it going.
75 pts = Economy is in reverse, we are going into orderly panic mode.

Which one would indicate a rally? Actually, I think I am starting to understand it. But as a novice trader, it is hard to understand today's rally on news that may have an effect in 6 months, as opposed to today's collapse based on news that is 3 months old (earnings reports). I'm working on it.
