I can't wait for the trouble to start.

It will be interesting, for sure. I can't wait to see how they handle a request by the Wiccans to participate.

I saw your posts on this subject on LWP this morning.

I don't think I want them helped to religion- there are more than enough religious folk.

As you know, I'll more than likely end up in your camp on this one, but I don't want to rush to judgment. I do see some benefit in certain religion based social services, particularly drug treatment.

Life can be tough. Most people need some kind of crutch at some time in their lives. Drugs are a crutch--a very damaging one. Some people respond to substituting the crutch of religion for the crutch of drugs. While religion can be damaging, too, it's not, IMO, in a class with drugs. I'd rather people use religion than drugs. Drugs have no redeeming social value at all.

On that basis, I'm willing to wait and get more information on this initiative before I zero in on the church and state problems with it.
