it is kinda exciting though isn't it. or maybe kinda nerve-wracking. I have to deal with it from work, and I have a meeting at 3:00 so I have to tread especially carefully. But you're right, it is something that seems better suited to announcing during market off-hours.

Does anyone understand why the Fed insists on announcing its rate-decisions during market-hours>>> You're assuming that the FED's main concern is the stock market. And it's not. It would actually be impossible for the FED to be fair to investors in regards to the timing of their policy announcement. There are other markets that eclipse the stock market in terms of money flow. Take the foreign exchange market for example (FOREX), in which $1.2 trillion (yes, trillion) flows every day. And this market does not close. And how about BOND and FUTURES markets that trade after 4:30 ET? To what extent is fairness even an issue here? -B
